I definitely donāt believe a message board is the ideal place for making any point heard more broadly lol, discussing jerseys here is like discussing anything else on a message board.
Weāre back people!
AP rankings this time of year mean nothing really other than good press.
For instance Indiana St. is 23 but if they lose a game between now and the end of the season they would be big danger of missing the field as their at-large resume is pretty weak.
SMU was ranked at the end of season one year and left out.
Good points, but Iāll counter and say that itās also good to have a random number in front of your schoolās name before, during, and after broadcasts.
Shut up, weāre talking about uniforms. Get your maladjusted priorities in order
Exactly. Itās a trite talking point.
So GD lame. Bennett wins despite having no orange unis. He can do whatever the fuck he wants to do with our uniforms ā as long as he keeps winning.
People are allowed to talk about wanting a different uniform. And them bringing that up doesnāt mean they donāt have fun watching UVA basketball under Tony Bennett. In this TED talk Iā¦
(People are allowed to talk about whatever they want, whether it be Rohde or jerseys. And people are also allowed ot be fatigued by the excessive talk of those topics (like me enjoying the jersey talk but tired of the Rohde talk). You pick your battles)
I find it so weird how angry people get when someone says they donāt love the uniforms. Some on here take it so personally.
Eh marketing is marketing. Itās a reality that teams in the top 25 have more eyeballs on them than teams that donāt. It just helps brand perception.
I think Gary Parrish is a bozo but he had a good point about rankings on his latest podcast. He said that a team being ranked gives people (especially casual fans) a reason to pay attention to them. How many people would have zero idea about Indiana Stateās team this year or would tune into a game if they were unranked? Somewhat of an extreme example but the general point remains valid.
I guarantee you if our +s and -s and abbreviations were better in orange jerseys than blue or white, then at least some of the āI hate that you hate our jerseys or care about the colorā crowd would suddenly start liking orange and giving a shit if we ever wear them or not.
Maybe they have family members who are also our current uniforms? You never know what someoneās circumstances are.
We play a lot better in white than in blue. The color matters.
Maybe thatās the reason for our road woes. Orange >blue
Iām sure the jerseys are hideous. All I can see are those disfigured hands.
In my case, Iām not angry. I just think itās kind of lame to broach the subject at all. Iām an old fart. I was discussing Virginia basketball, with other basketball junkies, long before there were any internet message boards. I donāt recall anyone ever mentioning uniforms back then, but, if they had, they would have been dismissed as dweebs. The closest it ever came to that was in the early 70s. In the '70/'71 season, Virginia went 15-11. It was UVaās first winning season in nearly forever. (It should be remembered that as late as the early 60s, Virginia didnāt fund the full allotment of scholarships for basketball.) In the conference, the team was 6-2 at home, but 0-8 on the road. For the '71/'72 season, to change things up, Virginia went to orange road jerseys. In fact, it was wearing orange when they beat Carolina in the '76 ACCT final, and they were still wearing orange occasionally as late as Sampsonās tenure at UVa. And, throughout all that, I donāt remember much talk about it. While I think it would be nice to see them wear orange again, I donāt think itās worth complaining about it, over and over and over again.
73CAV anytime someone mentions jerseys.
