This is hilarious and absurd
The Anti Neckelā¦
I was kinda expecting the worst when clicking into the replies for their post (and the IG version of it), but I was relieved to see that most of the jack-wagon comments seemed to be from non-Hoos trying to troll (and Trilly making the same joke everyone else has made).
I say uniform complaints are required until we win a tournament game in these ugly ones. Until then who can say the ugly uniforms arenāt the primary cause of the programās relative decline post national title?
Thatās a huge jump from last week. He had us behind Florida at like 32
Presuming that that is Eastwoodās ālook of disgustā, you are probably more right than not.
Did we hire a hokie to do video work?
Wow, so cruelly judgemental. I see at least two fingers on each of those hands AND a thumb.
I know this one has been posted⦠but I put it at the timestamp for the startā¦
Wakeās game against UVA on Saturday just became monumentally important for them, moreso than it already was. Brackets have them on the outside looking in going into this week and they missed a big opportunity at Cameron yesterday. Itās not a āmust-winā for them as they do host Duke later in the season and have a likely-Q1 road trip to VT. But beating us would absolutely be a Q1 feather in their resume that desperately needs them.
But we also need to win to complete our revenge tour
OTOH, if wake loses to us by double digits, we probably bump up to top 30 in NET, giving them their first quad 1 win!
Neckelian parsing here, but Iāll allow it.
Eh, I think this is more substantive than gaming. We genuinely look like a completely different team.
A month is a fair time to identify a trend
You may have to add āonly games on Tuesdays at 7 pmā and āin dark blue uniformsā to get the true Nucklehead experience.
I like starting at January 1 - still a top 20 team since then and it includes some of the experimenting that, while leading to two blowouts, has allowed us to go on the win streak
Iāve always thought mid-January was a good inflection point - learned enough about your team through non-con and a few weeks of conference play, teams starting to forge their identity, coaches starting to tighten rotation and shorten bench, plenty of game film for opponents to study and develop tactics. Itās also when Justin Anderson went from shooting 57% from 3-pt in 2015 to 23.5% afterward.
Edit: think we might also find itās when Bennettās teams make a move. In 2020 we were 11-5 through mid-Jan and looked really rough but then went 12-2 the rest of the way before Covid halted the season (with us on an 8-game win streak).
I am coming to the opinion that our view of rankings ought to change. By how much, I am unsure. OADs and the transfer portal have changed the landscape. There is less continuity in elite programs, and some mid-majors have benefited from that. Last month, eight members of the AP Top 10 lost to unranked teams. All in one week. I cannot ever remember that sort of thing happening. Certainly, not after the first week of the season. It also appears to me that there has been an awful lot of movement, up and down, in the various polls. With that in mind, it seems to me that the tournament seedings are going to mean less (or, be less predictive) than ever, and just earning a bid is the important thing. Once a team is in the NCAAT, anything can happen. Good or bad. The dynamics have changed, and itās going to be an interesting ride.

Bart posted about this on Twitter yesterday. His system and Kenpom already have some recency bias built into the system, so the overall rank is usually the best number to go with, with the caveat about a substantial lineup change. Us playing Minor, Taine, and Harris more (and dropping Leon and X) probably provides justification for more heavily weighting our recent run.
