I like that they don’t have a logo for Washington State, like they are some unknown/new to D1 team.

But would Jamal (or Harold, for that matter) have gotten the minutes he did without Cory going down vs. UConn in the first game? And Jamal benefited from Mike Powell not being ready for a bigger role.

Rest of the rotation — Parker, Burrough, Williford, Barnes, Ch. Alexander — was pretty well set coming into the year.

If Cory plays that year, Harold and Jamal are fighting for about 15-20 mins/game between them, at most. And maybe it’s not only Powell who transfers out after the season.

That was my first thought as well. We play better when we’re unranked.

One could also say:

At the end of the day, the guy who plays over the guy who doesn’t is better also. Is that argument also tired and pointless because it’s 110% speculation and opinion?

Or maybe this is a forum for fans, a place to opine and speculate?

I don’t see why Eli can’t get 5 minutes a game from Rohde minutes. We need Dante to get minutes because, like it or not, he’s the likely PG next year.

Bliss has a better chance to start next season at PG than Harris. I can’t imagine CTB accepting what we are seeing now from H as starter quality productivity and floor leadership. Good news is Tony is an excellent judge of PG ability and certainly he has seen how Bliss (pre-surgery) has handled dealing with Beeks in practice. It will be a well informed choice.

I don’t understand why we’re so sure that’s the case.

On that play where Eli appears to lose the ball you need to look closer. The guy who Eli blowed by and come from behind and pulled his left arm down That’s why he lost it. I seen another picture with his arm on Eli’s arm. Watch the film closely and you will see his arm reach in and then Eli appearing to have lost the ball

Either way would have been Top 10 on espn. You right

What I have said about Eli is he makes plays in games that only pros make. And this is such a great example

Really good points and recall. I know it’s not an apples to apples/exact same situation. Just comparing how Jamal became valuable at the end of the year almost out of nowhere on offense. Would just like to see X bring that energy and fearlessness that Jamal brought my last year. Was a real boost offensively and not something that opposing teams were ready for.

  • Sharma. A lot of guards already

I know some think he might redshirt (and may be right) but he’s 6’5 and can shoot, which we always need more of.

I don’t agree. I think Rohde is the PG next year.

The only issue I have with Rohde being the main PG is that he can’t really beat his man 1-on-1. Dante beats his guy pretty easily and it has led to some passes to open shooters. In the last game he beat his guy and had a nice pull-up at the foul line for a basket. His shooting needs to improve but I think he has the talent.

Jamal is a great example. Anyone could see his potential anytime he was on the court but the light switch didn’t come on until later in the season. I remember a dunk he had where he just exploded by everyone—can’t remember if it was a steal or on a break—about the time the switch flipped and it was holy sh*t this kid is really special. And by the time the tournament came around, he was a key contributor. The same could happen with Eli. It may not but it certainly will never happen when planted on the bench.

Jamal at like 6’6 was one of the fastest guys I ever saw WITH the ball. Dribbling and sprinting. Also a funny kid back then and good friend since

Edit: Jamal loves and looks up to Hav
