Lol dante aint kihei. If he was tony would play him all of Rohde’s minutes.

Genuinely think Dante might have that writing on the wall moment that Thompson and Shayok had, losing their minutes to Guy and Jerome and seeing Hunter in practices.

He’s also just not playing in an offensive conducive to his skill set

Haha have you seen Dante’s confidence though?

Yeah it’s almost like he’s pressing to prove his worth, trying too hard rather than just taking what the system gives him.

I’m waiting for the Committee to pair UVA-WSU as an 8-9/7-10 game just for the Tony Bennett storyline.

On to something here.

VPI to Miami games (7-0)

% of available minutes

Minor 57.9%
Beekman 83.2%
Rohde 50.9%
McKneely 84.6%
Dunn 72.3%
Harris 30.9%
Buchanan 30.9%
Groves 41.2%
Bond 12.2%
Murray 31.4%
Gertrude 3.0%

FSU to VPI games (2-2)

% of available minutes

Minor 32.7%
Beekman 83.3%
Rohde 63.0%
McKneely 85.4%
Dunn 68.0%
Harris 35.2%
Buchanan 47.2%
Groves 49.1%
Bond 6.1%
Murray 25.3%
Gertrude 4.7%

Much less Minor, much more Groves + Buchanan.

Less Murray and more Harris and much more Rohde.

Good looks.

Curious from cuts or others what is the root cause of us playing Minor less? Is it that he was looking worse? Bad matchups? Blake looking better? Early foul trouble in at least 2 games, I know.

Thinking about how to solve … sometimes the solution is not a direct A to B but getting at the roots of the issue.

Thanks for sharing - what do you get just from N.C. State through Miami, out of curiosity?

Yeah, I think it’s a bit of everything. Early foul trouble - he definitely didn’t like the way he was hedging vs. Pitt, Blake’s had some good run as well.

Less Minor is concerning but I think it’s more so in the context of playing without a center more. When he and Blake are closer to 50-50 or 60-40 either way in terms of minutes but they make up a full 40 it’s fine and normally pretty consistent with who is playing well.

It’s the sitting both and going small that continues to be the problem, IMO.

We now have the opposite profile of Wake Forest: our efficiency metrics are sketchy in terms of being tournament-quality, but we still have the resume (just wins and losses) of an at-large team. On the balance I guess it’s better to be that way than the opposite, but I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t feel totally reassured by that.

Resume metrics are valued much more than efficiency metrics by the committee. Especially with regards to getting in. The efficiency metrics may be more important in seeding.

Agree with this. Unless we’re playing 5 guards or a similar super small team, one of the two needs to be playing.

I think Blake over Minor minutes wise though has been a product of Blake’s growth. Blake being capable raises this teams ceiling in a way Minor cannot. But like most first-years, that growth is hardly ever linear. Not that anyone had a good game last night, but Blake did struggle. But the key thing with him is patience. He is getting a ton of minutes for a first year center which will pay major dividends down the road.

On to UNC. In some perverse/weird way, maybe getting blown out as opposed to a 5-10 point loss will motivate the team to play better Saturday and create a sense of urgency we seemed to not have last night.

I expect we come out and play well to start. The key will be when UNC has an inevitable 8-10 point run. Will they wilt and say here we go again or standup and fight. Who knows with this team.

I’ll be heading down to hooville for the unc game Can’t wait

If we start with a quick 6-1 foul differential in the first 8 min like last night then I don’t see how we win. If it’s a physical game like Duke last season then I like our chances

I do think that Beeks and Dunn getting that first foul so early, and then Dunn getting into more serious foul trouble, affected the aggressiveness our two best defenders could play with.
