Iām still a bit sad that our primary offensive adjustment was to double down hard on the Blocker/Mover, but at the very least weāre throwing some wrinkles in there to get Groves and IMac cleaner looks on the perimeter. Also Minorās ability to screen and roll off those screens has made our sets significantly more effective.
Maybe next year will be the year where we move away from it completely. Or the year after that. Or never.
Huge win. Yes, we got lucky at the end, but we put ourselves in a position to be lucky. Clemson kept threatening, and we didnāt fold. My heart has finally stopped pounding. I feel great.
If you want to celebrate this win by complaining that you would have coached differently or that some player doesnāt live up to your standards ⦠thatās your call. Iām opening up a bottle of 18-year-old Scotch and partaking generously. I think thatās much more fun.
So, it appears Bond has been buried deep on the bench. I am not sure that is going to change. I feel bad for the kid; he always seems to have such a good attitude.
I donāt think it is. Groves played 4 the entire game and was moving, not blocking. Pretty sure the offense was a hybrid of CBS, triangle and sides/B/M today. But it certainly wasnāt ādoubling downā on blocker-mover.
Quick turnaround to Miami on Monday. But the upside is they get 5 days off for FSU. Hopefully that gives time to get everyone healthy and a couple of good practices before the pretty tough final stretch.
