I was just listening to a podcast with Mir from Nov 10, and she’s saying “the hope is” she’s back in action “by the end of the year.” Couldn’t find any more recent updates than that.
If they want to start her off with a few minutes in an easier environment (at home, against a lesser opponent)… maybe we’ll see her in one of these next two games? Or maybe we bring her in as a secret surprise against NC State…
Yes, thanks for sharing this, I woulda missed it. I had no idea these guys knew each other. That’s pretty cool.
And Ryan’s right: I didn’t know what we were getting in Paris Clark, and then damn, she turns out to be an instant impact player as a second-year. Let’s get some more kids from Long Island Lutheran HS, that strategy never fails.
Wofford hit 4/5 3s down the stretch (and 10/14 on all shots in Q4) and UVA’s offense is a mess.
On the season, they’re now shooting under 25% from 3, yet are taking 35% of their attempts from there. Sam and Yonta are only players shooting above 30% from 3. Volume is down from earlier in the season, but it’s still disastrous. Also, the team remains comically bad at layups.
Also, they aren’t on the page still somehow. The team clearly wants to run, but Yonta at PG slows everything down and makes them play half-court. Twice the fourth quarter O was running hard in transition and Yonta looked her off and walked it up the court.
Defense mostly looked pretty good, though Wofford moved the ball well and shot out of their minds in the second half (I got there at halftime).
Good crowd, at least.
Did Sam get hurt?
Edit - Road to NCAA tournament just got a lot tougher.
Edit2 - Oh, my bad, it was Smith running the point at the end.
Edit3 - Just saw the Coach Mox interview. Team has clearly been screwing up.
If we get into the NCAAT now, it’s because we become a legit Top 25 team during ACC play. Anything could happen of course (and Mir will return at some point), but I’m pretty much adjusting my mental benchmark to qualifying for WNIT (which is no shoo in either).
