Plus minus today
Their families tried to scalp those tix and got no takers
I’m legitimately asking why Lewis was on the bench for so long down the stretch?
Chance is so good. He should be starting. Significantly better than Hall already, but I understand the dynamics there and the spark he provides off the bench.
If Odom doesn’t play Ugo over Grünloh more I’m gonna lose my mind. Man, he was just awful today
he played more minutes than Hall today off the bench
Thank goodness
I thought he was ineffective today.
I dunno, we’re not that far out from Grünloh carrying us through the Louisville game, and Grünloh has been better over the course of the full season. And even if you just filter the game sample to conference-only, they are about the same on adjusted plus-minus - Ugo better offensively, Johann better defensively. So maybe it should be 50-50 v. 60-40.
We got some stuff to figure out. But a win is a win.
Road win in conference play can’t complain.
KenPom update
Overall: 16th → 17th (Down 0.34)
Offense: 16th → 16th (No change)
Defense: 28th → 31st (Down 0.3)
Good to be figuring out some things at 18-3 - with a runway to win multiple in a row. The key is to get things humming by March. But this is a very good group.
We looked pretty good in the 2nd half outside of some bad fouls (and some bad calls). We were about to blow it open when we got up 7 then refs activated, then we got some frustration fouls after that too
Totally agree. We’ve had a lot of road games in the ACC so far and overall have done well. Very similar to Bennett teams.
Al Groh! And Bach finally found someone else who wants to talk about the Packers.

Al definitely still using the hell out of the chapstick
Mystifying how bad we were in transition today. Ended the day with 4 points in transition which is like a Sanchez stat. Did they forget how to play or are we not looking to at least explore the fast break or secondary break anymore? Even if it’s not there, it puts pressure on the defense and we can pull it back out. Felt very slow today… Feels like we throw it into TDR for the Dad-backdown-your-6th-grader-in-the-driveway set. We looked awful in transition today.
Didn’t we used to push the pace a lot more earlier in the season? Am I hammered? Does the team need to practice at The Dell (R.I.P. Dell) for a week? Somebody who follows this statistically can set me straight if I’m way off.
We are way too passive on fast breaks, it’s like we expect that the defender is going to just give up. Then suddenly he’s still there guarding the rim and we either go up weakly, dribble out, or turn it over. And our passing on fast breaks is absolutely horrendous
It’s been a little drop on conference play (16 offensive plays per 100 possession ending in transition vs 19 for the full season).
The thing I’m worried about is rim protection going missing recently. Have had our 3 of our worst defensive 2P% games this season in a row.
Also, I have mixed feelings about semi-abandoning the 3 this game. Worked out well, we had some guys who were just mismatches for them. But felt like we got into passing-up-good-3s territory at times.
Make a few more and that game isn’t even close. Our d flourishes off offensive production
Mallory has not figured out the alley oop stuff at all.
