I guess perception is reality for some… methinks I have a ways to go to reach relentless status… my 9th post in this thread…. Gotta catch up to the 47 from Jerome and the 72 from Hooandtrue… :joy::joy:

Im actually proud of you. First time you havent mentioned Taine Murray being the 2nd coming of Jordan. See change is possible.

If even Dave ā€œBoston College + Taine + Jabri = super teamā€ Wave can improve, hope is not all lost for Rohde.

Bet I have a higher PER per comment. It’s why Tony lets me post so much

I think the ā€œlaudingā€ may have been my call out. Kinda a ridiculous word in retrospect.

I was one of those guys back in the Fall and even early season that was super high on Rohde. But over the course of season, fell off that given his play. My point was that there are really fewer Rohde-Stans at this point.

I think ā€œonce Rohde becomes a 40% shooterā€ should be some sort of meme.

2 different POV, I suppose. We play young players, especially guards, but they have to value the ball. Could more minutes = settling down and not turning it over? Sure. Could more minutes be direct line more turnovers? Also possible.

What I do know is we have a very good 8 games win streak going in which advanced metrics are labeling us one of the best teams playing right now. Let’s enjoy it.

No doubt—times are good, and our HOF coach is coaching his tail off. But it’s a message board for Pete’s sake! We can walk and chew gum.

Man, late to this. My take is that Rohde is good and his minutes distribution right now is good and if he hit like 36% from 3 for the season this conversation would not be happening (which tells you that his other areas of play are already solid to good).

Not challenging any former college athlete to anything though. That’s hubris bro.

Everybody has a higher PER than Rohde though … except for Dante… lol … or did you mean higher PER than me? Lol

FSU singled him out over and over last night though and scored again and again on him… he’s serviceable in most areas except shooting… that is the word for him for me.
He was better than Dante last night though in the 2nd half with ball security.
Guys I want with the ball against actual pressure in order?
Reece
Isaac
Everybody else.

Might be a hot take, but I’m happy we’re on a 8 game win streak and don’t have many complaints.

We’re clearly not winning hard enough though. That’s been a major problem.

Yup. I am still convinced that Dante’s ankle is at 75%. His lateral movement isn’t what it needs to be. Hoping that his on-ball d and ball handling will both improve

It was twice. One player on FSU, doing it two times in that second half stretch.

Last night it was is no different than groves, iMac, and Dunn getting roasted one on one at times.

If you take off the narrative glasses, you’ll notice the other guys.

We couldn’t possibly be on an 8 game win streak. We are starting Andrew Rohde.

In fact Taine got toasted hard during that quick 7-0 run out of nowhere.

Really highlighted how important that wrinkle of Dunn at the 3 is for us this season. Somehow we survived with him in foul trouble for most of the game which was huge. It was McKneely and Reece’s offense (and Groves) that saved us

Ha - haven’t watched a Super Bowl in years.

Here are some random thoughts of watching tape the second time and some of the data points was really cool to see so many guys have so many contributions at key points in the game. It’s been a while since everybody contributed in meaningful ways at multiple points.
Little things like when Isaac got stuck, AR started to cut and then backed out creating the space for Jake to make the cut that got him a layup.
Little things like Murray, blocking out to create space for a teammate to get a rebound on a key missed free-throw.
The confidence that Jake and Isaac had in moments to drill three-pointers when we needed them. The sheer load that Reece had to handle in a ball-handling aspect in both full court, and half court.
How Blake played 24 minutes with only one foul is crazy with those Officials.
Even Dunn made plays for others with 3 assists Including the crazy lob save right to Isaac for the mid range jumper.
Jake playing really good defense last night and the last few games.
AR with the made FTs on the uva usual special missing front ends.
And McThreely becoming McFreely as well with a career high 9 FT attempts.

I would have said Watkins and Jackson or Florida State’s best two players, but that would take away all the good work by Lee Cassell and Jamie Luckie. Who were clearly the Seminoles best two.

To kind of iterate on what some have said above, I find the whole discussion of Rohde a little weird when Dante seems to clearly be the player having the most issues. He currently cannot shoot, throws some reckless passes (was lucky not to have two more TOs last night because bad passes were corralled), and is basically a non-threat offensively other than kicking it to shooters. Other teams are going to realize he’s no threat to finish at the rim so even those drive and kicks will become less valuable over time.

I know we need PG/distributor skills on the floor, but if we’re looking for places to allocate Elijah some minutes, that’s where I’d personally go first until Dante starts to pick it up (which for his sake I really hope he does).
