“That’s great, keep your eyes closed, just follow my voice”
Those are the four pillars of a “Cavalanche”. Been so long we forgot ‘em.
I was going to say the same thing. Shoot a couple of dozen blindfolded, simply feeling the ball release and not following the result. Hit a few in a row. Taking the blindfold off, the basket looks big. Try a few more, the go back to the blindfold. Hit a few in a row and quit for the day.
That’s funny
Just did this last week in practice with 10u kids… they liked it.
Wait, he hasn’t already been doing this in games?
No thats the problem. Right at the end when he releases something looks to be scaring him hahahah
Looks like he grabbed a hot wire
I notice tonight and in the past that dook players would take some deep breaths with their eyes closed and then open them before taking their freethrows. In other words a short meditation and then a refocus on the rim before shooting.
I saw some guys do the same. Hilarious
Dirk Nowitzki used to sing to himself at the line:
I’ve heard this kind of thing described as being beneficial because you are occupying your brain enough so you’re going off pure muscle memory for the shooting motion.
Singing to oneself is not weird. Singing David hasselhoff is weird.
I use a similar technique in my golf swing, though. Right as I start my backswing, I start screaming “fucking terrible shot!” Seems to work pretty well.
So, it’s not only me
Donovan Mitchell still does this in the NBA
Yes. Thats who I saw do it
I always love when the board circles back to Gill appreciation. What a great Hoo!
Gill - the best big at UVA this century. The man.
Sorry I think Jay Huff had a better PER
Gill had the better PERm
And both of them didn’t play enough .
Gill’s PER would Have been higher if he were allowed to shoot threes like Jay.
Edit… about the same PER as starters between both of them at UVA.
Jay had a considerably higher PER as a reserve than Gill.
I’d have to check but I think those 2 are the highest PER at UVA this century as starters.
