Agree about the 54 points, but doubt blaming Rohde will be justified. Miami is the worst defensive team in the country. They are just not trying. Tech will try (very hard).

Miami has some talent, they just are not trying. I don’t think they qualify as one of the worst ever, just one of the most disappointing or underachieving.

Hard to find too much to complain about in this game, but you did. Let’s not forget that Miami was playing against a team missing it’s second and third leading scorers and, as Sanchez mentioned, Sharma threw up after the game and Imac was not feeling well. They did pretty well.

He’s really a good dude. Truly one of the nicest guys. He facilitated memories of a lifetime for my boys.

I’m typically not one of the pessimists on this board, I’ve just been extremely disappointed in all aspects of this dastardly season, and have a chip on my shoulder at this point. Thank you for the context, this changes my perspective on the outcome, but not on the caliber of the Coaching.

Agree 100% he’s hard not to like when you get a chance to speak to him. The charisma and realness is there in a way that does not show when he’s on the court or behind a mic

Must have Rohde and Saunders against VT to compete- otherwise agree that Hokies and MY will destroy our D

Sharma was really sick and didn’t have his usual bounce… he threw up after the game … did great for being sick and he hit his free throws

I think it’s a combo of:

  • Larranaga has been an average at best defensive coach for the last 7 years or so (whether it has been intentional or not), so the team probably doesn’t have the best habits on D
  • They’ve got some personnel limitations: Kidd has never been much of a rim protector and then otherwise they are playing a wing-sized guy in Brandon Johnson as their center
  • Effort and morale drop with L leaving and just the overall vibe of the season

Was surprised to see Sharma play given how sick he was last Friday. Even 5 days later was a very quick recover and not shocked ge had lingering affects. Likely hasn’t trained in a week

Sharma was nails on those late game free throws. And honestly, the whole team was great on O. I thought we were cooked when seeing Rohde and Saunders out.

Some of yall - sheesh …. Multiple things can be true at the same time. We played great without Sahara. We also played great without Saunders. We also played against Miami. Who’s the worst team in the ACC. We also scored more points per possession than any other team had against Miami, except SMU. So it wasn’t just that they were bad. We also played better Offensively against them than anybody else had.
Rohde tries really hard and his effort is always there.
Also, true, he would not start for a good team in the ACC and definitely not At point guard.
None of that is to diminish his want to …his effort, his try hard, etc.

I love the way Sharma shoots FTs. Like an NBA player, he looks almost bored as he just steps up and shoots them, like it’s an 80-game season and ā€œi get paid either wayā€

Mentioned to Fresh last night that Sharma has the best FT form/release of anyone on the team and I don’t think it is close. PURE.

Go HOOS. Beat VT

I fully realize that Miami is atrocious defensively, so I’m not overreacting, but did anyone else kind of like us playing with two true bigs? I know Cuts has been asking for us to play Saunders at the 3 some. I like it. I absolutely don’t love us in Sides, but if we are going to run it, we might as well have Cofie in there with one of the other two. I definitely like winning the rebounding margin and having 9 offensive rebounds on 23 missed shots. And Cofie and BB are quick enough laterally to guard undersized bigs and even larger wings. Might be something for Ron to continue trying. Can’t hurt at this point.

Nice little short highlight reel (it’s mostly Taine)

Watching the bench during highlights … Saunders gets up a bit, but not all that much. Boot looks pretty big.

Just guessing but I doubt we see him for VT. Rohde like spry though.

We blew it last night not starting Power. We start him and he goes off for 20 instead of Taine.

Kidding, and sadly even with only 8 players available, he was completely unplayable such that we only had 7 players available.

Power doesn’t look salvageable to me. Looks like a 10th man at best. Probably my biggest negative surprise when it comes to a recruit I have had in the Tony era.
