Yeah not much may be a little harsh, but I mean this is basically a whole new team supposedly wrinkling in new things in the offense playing against a team should handle relatively easilyā¦ I donāt think itās a stretch to say when they inevitably struggle later this month that we may see different things, maybe some them work.

Yep.
I go back to the Navy game in 2021 (similar type team with a lot of new faces and unknowns). That pretty much told us what our issues were going to be right awayā¦and they were. Even with those pretty big issues, we still managed 20+ wins and a winning ACC record.
Point being tonight, and Monday for that matter, might show us a lot of issues, but it does not necessarily mean the season is going to be a disaster. It just might clarify expectations pretty early on.

Itās a new offensive system that clearly struggled in 2 scrimmages.
If they struggle again getting and making good shots and either lose or win a tight game, I think we learn a lot about this teamās ceiling just from the first game. Because the defense is likely going to be an issue this year regardless without any lockdown perimeter defenders or plus rim protectors.
If we win comfortably we will likely learn something about rotations and the new system but wonāt learn a lot until we play tougher competition.

If you like recruiting rankings, will be starting 4 former top 75 players. Saunders is the lowest at around 150.

Exactly. The talent disparity is going to the win this game for us. Yes, I know, upsets can happen, but weāve got two tune-up games to start the season. Letās have some fun.
We can all be Debbie Downers next Friday when we play Villanova.
Wow. My pre-season expectation is for Saunders to be the best player on the team.

The big thing weāve learned so far is that in the post-CTB era, team info security is a shadow of its former self. I mean, actual box scores for both scrimmages? Thatās just embarassing.

I think the 2020 opener showed us that TM3 and Sam and Huff looked like NBA quality shooters. Which was great!
The second game showed us we didnāt always know what to do with that.
But the first piece of info has aged pretty well!

Something that worries me. They (the staff) have tried so hard to recruit over Bliss since he arrived. And yes he reclassed up, but he previously āstayed backā so he is in the right age group.
Donāt know what recruiting over him means but if he was blowing everyoneās socks off last year, we wouldnāt have been so eager to sign PGās. Warley, Dai Dai, and Trent Perry. Probably others that I canāt remember.
Wondering if heās hurt or that we missed on his ability, or the staff is āmehā on him. Hope he gets healthy and becomes really valuable- but I have my doubts based on how highly we prioritized PG recruiting last year.

I donāt have a sense of this from the past, but my gut says itād be weird that heās not listed in the āother bench depthā part of the game day program and still ends up playing a fair bit - or at all. Does anyone know if that has happened in the past?
