I think this was just a way to show everyone your amazing seats for the game.

The issue is that some UVA fans already have a dislike of Coryā€™s self-centered tv persona (Iā€™m being charitable here) and somewhat ignore or are willing to overlook it based on his UVA ties. The moment that ego goes above Virginia Basketballā€™s best interests itā€™s game over. Itā€™s pretty understandable to me.

Iā€™ll edit this to add that TB is well within his rights to be pissed. Itā€™s not Coryā€™s job to help officiate, itā€™s to commentate. He put himself in that competitive arena and Tony has every right to tell him to GTFO.

We just beat probably one of the 5 or 6 most talented teams we will play this year. Unveiled a star in the making with BB. Had 6 turnovers and 16 steals. Discovered that BB and Groves have the ability to step up in crunch time. And you haved mixed reviews. This is one of the few times im wondering if HGN was watching the same game as i was. Makes it sound like we just lost to Navy or something.

imo itā€™s all about how it went down. If refs just asked to see another angle, thatā€™s fine and standard.

But if 1) they asked Coryā€™s opinion first and he gave it, or 2) they werenā€™t going to look until Cory said something ā€¦ then we have a problem. Still fundamentally an issue with refs. They are the adults in the room, so to speak.

That is so awesome. Feel like this team is way more vocal out there than in years past

Yours not Tony as he was on the other side of the court and did not have the benefit of the replay in the moment.

I saw on another board that refs can review any footage available including tv broadcasts but donā€™t know that to be fact. Would it been better if they just asked to see the footage? Maybe but asking if they got it right is essentially asking if they have a camera angle that corrects their decision which was the case.

They were amazing thatā€™s for sure

I love how Rohde is not who I thought he was and thatā€™s totally okay. Heā€™s bigger than I realized and his defense is far better than I thought. Heā€™s a very nice compliment piece.

From Tonyā€™s view it probably looked like Cory was spurring on the additional review. Cory was turning the monitor towards the refs and pointing out the mistake, but if I remember right I think he said the refs were asking him about it at that point. Still I donā€™t think Tony was wrong to speak up. Again from his angle it looked like Cory was trying to interject himself into the refs conversation/decision.

Likewise.

I kind of expected him to be our #2 scorer after IMac, but doesnā€™t look like that will be his role. I expected him to struggle a little bit early on with other facets, but heā€™s actually more fundamentally solid than I thought. Still can shootā€¦a lineup with IMac, Groves and him is pretty lethal from 3.

I would agree with that.

I mean is it actually surprising when Tony freaking Bennett lost his cool like a Hurley? Weā€™ve seen Tony get angry like that maybe 5 times in 15 years. Of course one of the few times it happens people are going to follow his lead and get pissed off

The entire world of UVa basketball is completely missing what matters. Cory is literally calling another man Dougie Fresh on national TV over and over as if he doesnt even know @DFresh11

Go Hoos!

Most importantly, the replay confirms one important thingā€¦

Cory definitely called us the Hughs instead of the Hoos

Ok, Iā€™m glad Iā€™m not the only one who caught that. And it was multiple timesā€¦not just once

I smile every time he does. But LRA knows thereā€™s only 1 DFresh

Apparently Blake showed out yesterday. Iā€™ve been saying it for a bit but this kid is GOOD. Idaho representative for the ACC and he is showing out for us.

I absolutely agree. I was watching it on my phone at a restaurant so didnā€™t see everything (I had to order, occasionally speak to the other 7 that I was dining with, etc.) but I was very pleased with the win and the things we showed.

Of course, BB is the hero of the night. We have our center. By mid-season, maybe now, we will not be talking about how much better we would be with Kadin. He hit some gutsy foul shots, made particularly harder since heā€™d missed some earlier, his youth, and the moment.

I like Rohdeā€™s play on both offense and defense. Nice to see him make a few dribbles and hit the jumper.

IMac really worked hard on D and was doing a great job against some good players.

Groves continued to show some skills on O (needs to work on his full court dribble/dunk). Seriously, think that knocked the wind out of us for a while. Loved has aggressive dribble to the hoop and turn around jump hook.

Certainly, the defensive rebounding was an issue, but imagine not many teams will be able to throw that kind of size at us. AND, we survived it.

The Corey thing was bad. I believe he was so determined to be right that he let his ego get out of control. I suspect he initiated the additional look either by his obvious amazement at the call catching the officials eye, or he may even have said something. If either is the reason for the extra look, he should get a reprimand. He is VERY lucky it didnā€™t cost us the game.
