Me too. It’s all starting to make sense.

Yuri’s come a long way since I was sitting for my first SAT with him at the next desk back in winter 1991!

Last night in our hotel in Charlotte we ran into the headmaster of Perkiomen School (where Ryan D and the Haugh kid from UF went). He had post-game pictures taken with both of them. Very nice guy who obviously is very proud of his two graduates. And a basketball fan (went to UNC).

Totally agree this is mostly on the refs. However, CA did himself no favors with comments about the ref trusting his (CA’s) opinion bc he’s built a relationship with him. I think that’s where the visceral anger came from (CA inserted this, CA basically made the call) which obscures the real problem (the process)

My other thought it - I’m glad this didn’t happen with Bilas or there might have been a riot

We’re going to have to hear Cory talk about this every game he does of ours this year. And at least once a year thereafter.

Filling the message board void that Kihei left us I guess.

I think Florida could be/will be top 25 by February. That front court is huge and skilled. They have an nba talent at the 2 and their pg seemed to be more than competent (even against Reece). They’re really multidimensional.

I’ll add it’s cool getting a win like that so early. On a random Tuesday night I can turn on a Florida game and have a rooting interest. It’s kinda the equivalent of watching a tech, Duke or unc game and rooting against them.

Nope. The ref was doing his job. Corey decided he wanted to be both announcer and ref. Refs make good and bad calls but in the end that’s their job and they’re human.

the effing dukie announcers want to run the games anyway, let’s not open that door. Corey crossed a dark red line.

Will we have football stadium PAs yelling “look, the left tackle is holding ref!” during plays?

In terms of my view of this team, the Tarleton State game didn’t move the needle. This game moved it a little, mainly due to Buchanan being further along than I think even his biggest boosters, me being one of them, could have hoped.

The bad news is that our rebounding is as big of an issue as we thought it might be and we don’t have “that guy” that puts points on the board when things are sour on offense. Correction, “that guy” hasn’t emerged yet, though he might be on the team and might emerge as the season goes on. Reece is probably the best bet with IMac the next in line.

The ref made the call he chose to listen to CA he could have chosen to ignore him. Or told him to eff off. It’s on the ref for seeking and accepting outside council.

You make it sound like the ref is a child and he was being scolded by his parents. CA isn’t even his boss.

It’s a basketball game not the Isreal Palistine war.

Cory launched the rocket. And Bennett wanted to go nuclear. Perhaps an acceptable simile, after all.

I thought his D and getting deflections was great. He is gonna get better and better. He put on 15 pounds since got here.

There’s a video going around that purports to prove the ball went off UFL guy’s knee. I still don’t see it

Knee?

One big takeaway after two games without Kihei - we’re running the offense much faster. Averaged 68 possessions for the first two games. We keep that up, I think the offensive droughts, to the extent they occur, become less of an issue. My eye test says we’re getting it into the front court much quicker but I don’t see that we’re really trying to get out in transition.

I don’t see it either. Also not really worth Zapruder-ing it, since we won.

The only way to know is to swab Clayton’s knee and send it to the crime lab, and then have a hearing to determine the correct answer, with Cory representing Florida, and UVa internet warriors representing UVa. And then, of course, at least 3 levels of appellate review.

Or we could just ban replays and accept human fallibility. (Probably my preference, although Cory being permanent attorney in the hoops equivalent of Wapner’s court would admittedly be fun).

Rewatching. Had forgotten that they got off to a pretty dominant start against us. I’m a little worried we’re going to get blown out.

Let’s see if the Spud Stud can give a lift out of the under 16.

But do the three levels of appellate refs review de novo? Is Cory entitled to Chevron deference?
