🏀 Virginia vs Miami, Saturday, 21 February 2026, 1400, ESPN2

I wonder how much PT Tillis would’ve gotten if he’d been healthy. Henderson would’ve gone at him, for sure. We might’ve needed nearly 36 out of TDR anyway

I guess we still need to beat NC State, but feels like we’ve basically secured the 2 spot for the ACC.

One Miami player shoved GrĂźnloh from behind after he blocked a shot. Says a lot about the Miami culture. Bunch of douche bags. Chance got the last laugh. Hope Miami enjoys the trip back home as losers

This a good response. We all have different opinions. I have concerns too about Hall’s production vs. his playing time allocation. But I also feel that Chance is incredibly effective in bursts, and if playing him more leads to a decrease in his production, then it doesn’t make sense to swap their PT allocation. It’s something we don’t know and can only speculate on.

With that said, guard play dominates in the post season or so they say. Have zero numbers to prove/disprove that by the way BUT it is a thing. I don’t think it’s unfair to want more out of Dallin because, if the saying is true, we will need more from him in the post-season if we want to go deep in the NCAA’s

Hall has been clutch late in a lot of games. Had a couple huge layups after Miami scores.

Dallin was really good defensively tonight. I do wish we had more from him on the offensive side of the ball.

Miami took advantage of Chance’s size in the first half. He wasn’t as dynamic either offensively. In the second half, he was the straw that stirred the drink offensively. Game changer.

Gripe: the ceremony was great EXCEPT they showed NO former players in person. They were standing off to the side. You couldn’t see who was there. I haven’t watched the video so maybe it was different but everyone was asking if they could see who was there. No acknowledgment. Bizarre.

people would’ve gone bananas if they’d seen Brogdon, Harris, Gill, Perrantes, etc

For what it’s worth, Chance has both a higher assist% and lower turnover% (by a lot) than Dallin. I guess the denominators for assist% and turnover% are different (total possessions vs. possessions used). In fact chance outperforms Dallin at basically every rate statistic including all shooting, rebounding, and defensive categories.

I also think that Dallin is probably our fourth best guard and should be earning significant minutes. But Chance might be our best player period, and he deserves the playing time that entails. Don’t envision a change in the rotations happening until the coaches’ hands are forced, similar to Dre in 2018.

Story of the game imo is Johann stepping up and dominating defensively against a VERY strong and physical team. One of the biggest wins of the season and he shut up a lot of people today.

The best thing about this argument concerning Chance and Hall and others as well is the amount of depth we have that is playable. With 5 minutes left we have enough depth that the team can be fresh for the last 5 minutes. How many games we won in the last 5 minutes?

Yeah that’s the thing. He is better in pretty much every way and should be starting to maximize our potential.

Excellent point. I was super worried he was gonna be overwhelmed by their frontline. He stepped up big time.

Two more thoughts:

  1. Anyone calling for Thomas to lose his minutes clearly has never played organized basketball. You don’t bench those older dudes who lead the locker room. Having them on the floor is integral to the functioning of the team, especially this late in the season. You take the stupid turnovers for the boost it gives the players. Also Malik is the type of dude who can go off in any game. Need that for the tourney.

  2. Anyone calling for starting lineup changes at 24-3 approaching March is also stupid. These guys know their roles and are bought in. Chance will have three more years to start. Let Dallin keep his role. He does so many great things if you know how to analyze basketball beyond “who scores the most”. Not to mention having dudes like Chance and Ugo come off the bench is huge considering most other teams have a much larger drop-off when their bench players sub in.

Swear to god this board has some of the most bitchy fans I’ve ever seen. Stop turning on these guys after a bad play or two when we’ve won 24 games before March.

Chance talking that shit after his FT.

Exactly. And to even be discussing what we have to do to play in the second weekend, as if that’s the sole way to measure success for this season—on what planet?

I guess it has to be said: This program has advanced to the second weekend of play exactly TWO times in the past 10 years: in 2019 and 2016.

I mean as great as Tony was, Virginia advanced to at least the Sweet 16 a grand total of 3 times during his 14-year tenure.

Yet this guy seems to place the bar this year as: get to the second weekend or the season is a failure.

Malik’s minutes have gone down over the last 8 games. 18 minutes today and hasn’t played more than 22 since BC. I’d just like for him to play smarter basketball when he’s out there. I dont doubt he can win you a game in march but I’m also afraid he can lose you one as well with the turnovers and shot selection.
