Honestly the only guy we have who I think can âlose us a gameâ is Thijs because if we need to pull him for poor play the drop off is so severe. He can also get into stretches where even the shots are turnovers and it feels like things really disintegrate.
Everyone else has capable enough backups and Odom is good about yanking them when theyâre off.
Once again, even if thatâs true, it doesnât really matter. When you havenât changed the starting lineup a single time all season, you donât pull a senior (who, once again, leads the freaking ACC in A/TO ratio) with 4 games left. Iâve seen it happen, and it can royally screw a team over. Everyone has settled into their roles very nicely, and weâve won 24 out of 27 with players in those roles. The âChance needs to start for us to be good in March, and Dallin isnât very goodâ thing is just a really weird hill to die on. We could, and I know this is a wild take, just enjoy the teamâs success and trust that maybe, just maybe, Odom and his staff know what theyâre doing and realize that we have two really good point guards and stop bitching over Chance not starting when he literally averages 3 minutes per game fewer than Dallin.
Thatâs fine. I disagree. I think Chance should be playing close to 32-33 and Dallin close to 10-12. I hope we come out in the tourney and dominate teams and Iâm 100% wrong and all of your feelings are correct. I would absolutely love that and Iâd be the first to come here and say, man did I get that wrong. My bad.
this might be the most talent that Chance plays with after revenue sharing (maybe Iâm wrong there, weâll see). I just want to make sure we maximize that while we have it.
remember this post in the second round if we win. Come back and call me an idiot. I wonât shy away. Iâll own it
Dallin leads the team at right around 28 minutes per game. Nobody on the team is going to play 32-33 a game with the way we play. Thatâs not realistic or practical. In a one game scenario, sure that might happen. Like TDR playing 36 today because of depth issues.
Wanting the best A/TO ratio leader in the conference, arguably best help defender on the team, and guy with the most March Madness experience on the team to play 10 minutes a game is certified lunacy. The argument that Chance is a better player than Dallin is one I can respect. The argument that the playing time ratio should be 32:10 is just stupid and intentionally obtuse.
Also, you allegedly coming on here and admitting youâre wrong in that scenario is also laughauble, because Dallin has come up big in the final minutes of so many games, and you havenât acknowledged or retracted at all. Iâll believe that when I see it.
I agree. Thought heâs mostly had a good feel for that, like with Onyenso and GrĂźnloh. Their minute splits within a particular game are lining up well with their performances.
Mentioned this during game but at start ofn2nd half Onyenso was in locker room. After 2 mins he came out with ice pack or brace on knee. Also Lewis had a brace on his knee during second half on bench.
Btw I think you think we come down on you because we disagree with your takes. And I mean, we definitely do, but the main reason we come at you is because youâre incredibly annoying. You post the same takes 36 times a game and then say some variation of âmy bad I just want this team to be goodâ or âthis level of play wonât work against a good teamâ anytime someone calls you out. I wish I was better at ignoring you (thatâs on me) but I also wish you would just give the game thread a goddamn rest.
JPJ had a 2019 feel today. That crowd was freakin electric, despite how choppy the game was bc of the refsâ ineptitude. Hats off to everyone there. That was awesome.
I scroll past all takes and counter takes to jphat. In fact I donât even know what he thinks or why people donât like it. You may all be wrong.
This is all very easy to do. In life if you find that conversations spin in circles, then you should just draw boundaries. That can be applied here as well.
CTB was a natural in the booth. Iâm watching back the parts I missed now. Wouldâve been mildly annoying as a Miami fan because he was clearly fanning out and thatâs when we went on a run lol
This was the type of win that shows we belong. We beat a more athletic (three five-stars and one of Richard Pitinoâs best players at UNM) and more physical team that shot >50% from three and >90% from the FT line.
I just want to say this about this game - Miami may not be as good of a team as some of the tournament teams we will play. Unclear, I think theyâre pretty darn good with probably only two losses they wish they could have back. But, theyâre a very good team and more importantly, they played great today.
Team profiles are static re: this is their body of work - but how they play in any one game fluctuates significantly⌠and this was Miami playing fantastically⌠and us still winning. The Miami team playing today like this would have beaten a lot of teams ranked ahead of them right now.
