Apologies as I watched on tape delay and not on the board. What was the deal with no Ames in the 2nd half?
Great win either way. Thought we were cooked at half.

He played like shit in the first half, would assume the staff just wanted to go in a different direction.
Just wasnât playing well.
Incredibly well coached game. Give Ron a ten year contract now!
What a tale of two halves.
Thought Ron did a better job managing in game today, generally liked his substitutions.
Saunders continues to be our anchor.
Rohde was the pleasant surprise today, both his 3 point shooting and his aggressiveness getting to the hoop. He missed on that last drive but other than that looked really solid today.
Go HOOS!
Beat Louisville.
That stretch (good) in the second half gives me hope for a decent season (not delusional enough to go further than that). Like the way we seem to be improving against the defensive pressure (practice makes perfect). Seemed much more aggressive on O today.
Shame we cannot seem to just win a (meaningful) game in such a way that we all can celebrate how well we played without being subjected to a collapse at the end that threatens that glee. I think the sequence that turned this from being one of those games came when Imac missed the wide open layup and then we gave up the three on their possession, their second try at it when 2 cavaliers let a missed three bounce on the floor in close proximity while barely moving to get it. Looked like maybe they thought the other guy had it under control.
On another note, I remain flabbergasted at how really poor Imac is at or around the basket. Blows my mind.
Donât want to end on a sour note when we all should be happy for how well we played overall today. Liked seeing Sharma bang in a few and that maybe Rohdeâs high 3-pt percentage isnât foolâs gold after all.
How did no one ask about Dai Dai in the postgame? lol I gotta think he tweaked the ankle again.
As someone who was fully off the Sanchez Train, I am now fighting the âWhat if we give Sanchez a UVA friendly 3 year deal and give him Paul Tudor money to work with/flip Silas Demary Jr to replace DaiDai and Sadiq White from Syracuse to replace TJ PowerââŚ
that run to take the lead was so aggressive and inside out I loved it. I got hooked.
Sanchez isnât perfect and we probably should move on from him, but Tony dipping when he did also didnât allow the rest of staff to really utilize NIL (before ultimately doing NIL anyways and overpaying the 2nd round of transfer portal targets like Power). Probably could have outbid Iowa St for Jefferson for example.
Taine with 5 assists.
Thought he was instrumental during our run attacking from the wing. Two dish outs to iMac and Rohde for 3s.
Goes to show you how much it hurts not having a slashing 3 be an anchor the past few years, especially so given our general lack of point guard.
Taine is good enough to show flashes of that but doubt he can be consistent enough to really elevate us.
During the last 5 minutes (when NC State outscored us 12-3), we were 0-6 from the field and NC State got 9 second-chance points. Almost the worst-case scenario.
On the plus side, we had no turnovers in that stretch. Also plus side: we won.
In the post game radio interview - Saunders said they installed a new O scheme and it clicked for them as a unit in that second half run.
Not sure how ânewâ this news is? A really recent thing ?
Some of the sets were definitely new I noticed. But I didnât notice them attempted in the first half. Will need a closer watch to verify. So ⌠hard to sayâŚ
Felt like early interior touches which created inside and outside play and space?
I could be way off but seemed like high on the floor guards were back screening for bigs off the ball and creating their space that way.
Imac had a great one where he went to cut through on left side then popped back to wing for the 3
Looked like some free lance shit and I like it
Felt like we went a bit faster but still only 58 possessions
Was just talking to @JBHoo about that the other day. Fans are throwing dirt on Sanchez way too early. The odds are against him for sure. But opinions would change in a hurry if they were to win 8 of the next 10 and look better doing itâŚas they did today. He wonât be judged as much on the result of this season as how things look going forward in 2 months. Nov/Dec will be long forgotten.
I really liked the Sharma, Cofie, Saunders, IMac, Murray/Rhode lineup
Acc is hot garbage right now.
Woof
Ron said after the game that theyâve been working in practice on ways to get IMac free since his movements in our offense had become predictable and, thus, defendable by our opponents. He said that theyâre now letting IMac improvise and go wherever he feels he can get free.
