🏀 Virginia vs Rider, Monday, 3 November 2025, 1900, ACCNX

As we play better comp we’re gonna need a 4 that can defend and rebound the damn ball when TDR is out. If that’s Barksdale then so be it.

Odom also mentioned that they practiced some with a Onyenso-Grünloh frontcourt, but decided not to go to it against Rider in favor of getting Carrere and Lewis some time at the 4.

Jacari also seems like another good end of shot clock option

You know, I was really struck by that. For some reason (maybe it’s the kind of angry look on his face or some of the things he said early) I had doubts if he would be a team guy. I think he said out loud that he was auditioning for the NBA. So, I really liked that and some of the interactions with the other guys.

It really appears that Odom struck gold in the character department with all of these guys.

Zero complaints from that game. Shot poorly from 3 and the FT line, which was likely nerves. What a breath of fresh air to see consistent aggression and attacking. Was like watching a whole new sport. Loved the energy and passion too.

Win has us up two spots on Torvik. At 32 now.

He thanked the crowd several times in the post game too which I liked. He’ll probably never look on UVa as fondly as we do, but they seem to appreciate it for what it is which is all we can ask.

I would kill to see his class schedule lol

TBH, he is more than I hoped for. I wasn’t convinced that his proximity wasn’t part of Tony’s interest. Also, wasn’t sure I wanted another Kihei. However, even though it is too early to be sure, I think we are getting more than Kihei.

By mid November - fixed it for you

It’s funny because in the offseason, the thought was that Virginia fans would need to re-calibrate how they viewed shot selection - thinking was there would be a lot of gripes in that department. Didn’t hear anything last night.

In reality, I think it’s getting over the hump that not every defensive effort has to be a grind-it-effort.

Rider was overmatched from the get go. I like how we turned up the defensive pressure in the second half though and we got whatever we wanted offensively throughout the night. The only thing separating this from a 50 point win was the shooting. They won’t all be this easy, but was aesthetically pleasing to watch.

They both appeared to be just out of college and working their first games. Wayyyy too much yapping about every inconsequential action.

It’s the ACCNX crew. It’s gonna happen

I’d love to have the Corrigan “not you fat Jesus “ relative or even Chelsea Shine was fine. But I mostly listened on mute anyway.

Funny when overseas people are more thankful than Americans in the states. Hope he balls put this year!

Not to diminish his thankfulness, but it’s probably one of the (if not the most) bigger, engaged, rowdy crowds he’s ever seen.

Complaining about announcers always reminds me of this exchange with my brother:

Him - [whining about the announcers …]

Me - put it on mute

Him - But I like to hear what they have to say…

Her commentary style could best be described as having to write a 1,000 word essay on a topic that you have no clue about….

So you spend 400 words re-stating the problem/question, 200 words with relatively adjacent facts and then 400 words in your conclusion.

I listen mostly for the play-by-play. If I could synch radio properly that would be the best bet.

I’d like an option for these ACCNX games that’s just like game noises plus someone relaying info that’s not obvious from what we are seeing. Like why/what they are reviewing.
